The Writer's Voice Twitter Pitch Party Rules
(Twitter hashtag: #WVTP)
Thursday, May 24 12PM - 6PM EDT

Here's the rules...

Pitch your finished manuscript on the hashtag. You may pitch any time you see an agent online - just don't go crazy and pitch more than once during an agent visit. We will monitor the hashtag and gently inform you if you're being obnoxious. Make sure your pitch includes the hashtag #WVTP. The agents will be hopping in and out of the feed during the party hours. They'll tweet their requests for the manuscripts that pique their interests. Simple. Right? Not if more than one make a request on the same pitch, it isn't.

Keeping in the spirit of The Writer's Voice, if two or more request the same pitch, you must choose one of them and announce it in the feed. (They promised not to hold any rejections against you.)

ETA: You can adjust your pitch for the same ms and you can pitch more than one ms. This is a free for all, the only rules are to be nice, pitch a finished ms and use 140 characters to do it in--and email us to get submission guidelines.

If you get a request...

After you get a request, you must email (make sure to include your twitter handle) us at thewritersvoicecontest@gmail.com, tell us which agent requested, we'll verify the request, and send you the agent's/agents' submission guidelines.

So get your Twitter pitches ready, and make sure to include the hashtag.

And follow the agents on Twitter...

  4. So does that mean we can post our pitch more than once, depending on what agents are hanging around?

  5. Stacey - Yes, you can pitch anytime you see an agent on.

  7. Sounds fun! Thanks for putting this together :D

Do we (and can we) pitch a specific agent? And do we expect other lurking agents to join in the fray, er, fun?

  10. Don't pitch a specific agent - you need the characters. Just pitch when they're on the feed. Good luck everyone!! <3

  11. I'm guessing we wait until it ends before we email about requests we've received and choose an agent (if more than one requested)? :)

  12. Oh, my question was answered somewhat on the feed. Our 'chosen' agent gets a full, the others get partials. ;)

  15. Unfortunately, I was kept longer at work today and I missed it all! Will this be happening again in the future? I was really excited to pitch.

  16. Crazy, insane, speed-of-light contest. Once I got TweetDeck to filter out the SPAM, it was gravy.

    5 hours and 45 minutes in--landed a request for a full w/ John.

Thx so much for doing all the legwork to help all these aspiring authors get closer to fulfilling their dreams. <---Cheesy. I know...
