If I suddenly found myself in the witness protection plan? I think I would miss all my writer friends I have made recently. That kind of support group is important. Of course, I would miss my family more, but I figured that was an obvious answer. :D

So, that thing I miss the most? Well, it has to be the ability of making and KEEPING friends. Moving around every 3 years really played havoc on that ability. When you open you heart to friends, and then have to leave them, or they leave you, and there is no way to remain "close" anymore is hard. And now, as an adult, I fear it is damn near impossible.

Hey, at least I have my friends in my imaginary worlds (what I write), and in the books I read!

i would miss the freedom of sending the kids to school cause when their off they don't let me read or go on my laptop :( or the hubby to work cause then i wont have any funding for my book obsession
but then again i would go absolutely insane without my books :D xxxx

Oh that's a hard one. I think I'd miss the writing community the most to be honest. I've never found a more supportive group of people ever. Of course, there are always a few bad apples that spoil the bunch, but in general they've become some of the best people ever.

After that, I'm with Sian_x. I'd have to re-start my massive book collection!!! EEK!

I would miss my freedom. I like being able to do what I want when I want to do it. Having to be careful about where I go, what I do, what I say, etc? Letting other people have a say in, or even be in control of, all of those things? I think I'd go crazy! If my family was with me, so I at least didn't have to constantly miss and worry about them, I'd be able to muddle through, I'm sure. Doesn't mean I wouldn't hate it, though.

IF I found myself in the witness protection program, I would be devastated. I'd lose my freedom, my friends, my family. And, oddly enough, I'd be extremely devastated about losing my name. I don't even particularly like my name but it is such a huge identifying part of myself that without it, I don't know how I would like it.

I suppose I'd miss the freedom the most. It'd be scary, but having my family there with me would help.

This sounds really good. The other day, I told my husband I thought our neighbors might be in the witness protection program! That's because both of them carefully back in their cars, one in the garage and one in the driveway - who does that? (Especially in the garage) :)

I'd miss all of my friends - the "adopted family" that spans the globe. I don't know how I could leave them all behind!

Wow, if I suddenly found myself in witsec, there are so many things. I would miss my friends. I have tight knit friends that I talk to everyday and my best friend of 20yrs, well yeah, I would be lost without her. I would miss the people I work with, I would miss the subtle joys of my city, like all the locally owned businesses. Yeah, it would be really rough.

My entire family is with me?

Oh, I don't know - that's a lot of people right there if we could cousins and aunts ;) But if we are going direct family? Can I keep my cats?

The one "best" friend that I have is so close to me that she's dating my brother in law. There are several people that I would leave behind, and I don't mean to sound callous, but I've moved before (across country). I've had to start from scratch.

So, I would probably miss my name the most, seeing as how I would probably have to change that :P

If my whole family is with me, then i don't think i would miss anything. Friends, sure, but family is everything

If I was in the witness protection program... I'd probably miss my skating rink the most. That place is my escape, like a very cold second home. (Following as Emberchyld on Twitter and Isabel on the blogs)

I know this contest is about to end, so I just wanted to personally thank everyone who entered and weighed in on the Witness Protection Program thing. For me, if I was forced into that sort of thing, I'd miss the normalcy of life, not being able to make close bonds with people, and feeling like I had to look over my shoulder every minute.
